Business Owners for Education for All
Join the open-letter to Tennessee lawmakers from business owners who recognize a quality workforce begins with access to education for all
Honorable Members of the Tennessee Legislature:
As leaders with business interests in Tennessee, we write in opposition to HB 793/SB 836, which would restrict some Tennessee children's access to public K-12 education, solely because of their immigration status.
We, as a small business owners, support education for all Tennessee children.
We know the importance of an educated, quality workforce. We rely on today’s workers to keep our businesses running, and we count on the next generation to sustain Tennessee’s future.
If passed, this law would force families to leave Tennessee in search of opportunity elsewhere, shrinking our talent pool and harming the very foundation of our economy. In the short term, families will leave Tennessee, and in the long term, our state will suffer from an uneducated generation unable to contribute to our businesses and economy.
As citizens, parents, and business leaders, we encourage our lawmakers to oppose HB 793/SB 836 and to defend education for all children.
Sincerely,
